What’s For Dinner?
Every grocer runs a flyer. You know the one — a grid of things that are cheap this week, printed to make you drive across town for a deal on something you weren’t going to buy. It trains you to shop by price. We understand why it exists. We’re not going to do it.
Here’s what we’ll do instead. Every couple of weeks we’ll set a table — one or two complete meals, chosen the way you’d choose what to cook for people you like. Not a list of bargains. A dinner: the pasta and the sauce and the wedge worth grating; the board, the crackers, the honey that makes the hard cheese sing. The makings gathered in one place, so the answer to “what’s for dinner” is already sitting there.
That’s the whole idea. We think about food all day — it seems only fair to hand you the good version of the thinking. Take the whole table and a little comes off, not because we’re marking anything down, but as a thank-you for letting us plan your good week.
This fortnight, two of them: a Pasta-Night Table for a Friday when nobody wants to cook much, and a Cheese-Board Table for when the answer is a board and a bottle. Have a look. Tell us what you’d put on a table of your own.
Opening at King & Spadina, 2027.
